So what is the Surger II and why is it different than the Surger?
The Surger II is a redesign of the popular BB5T Surger. We have
gathered up suggestions over the past several years and have taken
them into consideration and used them to produce a new design that
functions better and allows a wider range of vacuum sources to be
used, including the modified aquarium pump style of vacuum pump.
The surger has an added control. The knob that used to control the
duration of the on/off pulses that controlled the solenoid are now two
knobs. One knob controls the duration of the solenoid "ON" time (the
amount of time that the solenoid stays open, and therefor allows loss
of vacuum) and the other knob controls the duration of the solenoid
"OFF" times (the amount of time the solenoid stays closed and therefor
allows the vacuum to build up again). If you use very short durations
for ON time, and very long durations for OFF time, you can use vacuum
pumps that have a very low flow rate (ie, the modified aquarium pump!)
and not have the pumped tube come loose or fully break vacuum.
There is a button in between the two knobs that allows you so select a
pattern of "ON" and "OFF" pulses. The pulses last varying amounts of
time in each pattern. There is now, also, a mode that cycles through
all of the other patterns one at a time and then repeats starting with
the first pattern again.
A pattern is a series of pulses. The pulses can either be "ON" pulses
or "OFF" pulses, there can be any number or "ON" pulses in a row and
any number of "OFF" pulses in a row. The two knobs then control the
ON pulse time and the OFF pulse time separately, giving you a great
deal more control over the variation of patterns than with the
original Surger model.
The end effect is that instead of your pumping experience being a
constant application of vacuum, it is now a gentle series of
pulsations of either long or short duration, or even a mixture of the
two!
It adds a whole new dimension to the pumping experience.
